How do you feel about “What I Eat in A Day” posts? 🤔 Personally I don’t have an issue with them because I understand it doesn’t mean anything deeper than “Things I ate on this particular day” (but also made more pretty for IG). However, I can see why these posts could present a multitude of problems.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Potential misunderstandings:
▪️This is how this person eats every day
▪️This is how I should eat so I can look like this person
▪️This is how I should eat so I can be healthy
▪️This is how people are supposed to eat because this person knows more about nutrition than I do
▪️The nutrient requirements of this person are the same as mine because we are similar in size
▪️Etc.

Which I hope you know is NOT true. Especially if said person is not a registered dietician (which I am not, just gonna reiterate that). However, I think there are a beneficial outcomes from these types of posts 🙏

Potential Benefits:
▫️Offer some meal ideas or inspiration on how to incorporate different types of food into your life
▫️Remind you to eat and fuel your body
▫️Bond with the person posting as it is a little insight into their life and personal preferences.
▫️Maybe you have similar food preferences and can observe other things they like so you can also try them.

Maybe it’s silly to over speculate on the inner workings of social media posts, but it affects us all and in different ways and I think it’s important to contemplate the repercussions or benefits ♥️

I used to share periodic updates throughout my All In journey of everything and anything, but as of late I’ve been too scared 😔 Things have been going so well and I want to share that with you guys, but some how along the way I’ve grown hesitant to post. I often wonder where that bold, idgaf woman (who had a back bone) ran off to. Slowly relocating her 🧐

With firm resolve, I’m done being scared to post. I’m done feeling like what ever I say or do is wrong. I want to share my life in a way that I want not “should” and post things that I would want to know or see. When I was all in- yes, I was scared- but I posted and shared everything regardless of the criticism and I want to be that woman again. So here I am…sharing.

Ok, rant over. So here is an unposed photo of what I look like but this isn’t all about the way I look. I have been FEELING amazing. Remember healthy is not a look, it’s a feeling. My mental health is great, I have no clue (or care) how much I weigh, I’m no longer hungry all the time, my energy is great, I workout when I feel like it (not because I feel like I have to), and I spend most of my time reading or working (not obsessing about social media, food or exercise). 2022 is off to a good start and I’m happy to share that with you ♥️

I read 174 books in their entirety in 2021 😳 (and I also started 12 but did not finish). It was a combo of both reading physical/ebooks and listening to audio books. To be frank, I genuinely don’t know if I should be proud or embarrassed by this revelation (aka lack of social life 😅). I never had time to read anything other than scientific literature during my PhD and even after I defended, I jumped straight into reading literature about exercise science. So after all that, I didn’t realize how much I missed reading simply for pleasure. Books about trifling matters that are not sophisticated or informative….they are just stories. Reviving my long lost love for reading has brought me more joy than I ever imagined ♥️🙏
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I read physical books in the morning and before bed every night, and listened to audio books during every meal, car ride,flight, trip to the grocery store, while doing laundry, dishes, any type of mundane chore or errand etc. My original intention was that I hoped reading would improve my writing-and I’m aware I might’ve taken this little venture of self improvement a bit overboard-but I have absolutely no regrets.

Reading 📖
1. Improved my ability to focus, which made me much more present and in the moment (rather than getting easily distracted).
2. Made me less likely to forget things (aka walk into a room wondering why I walked in there in the first place).
3. Significantly reduced my anxiety by calming my busy mind.
4. Displaced all of my time on books instead of social media by consuming most of my leisure time.
5. And most importantly, made me really, really happy.

It’s a lofty goal to try and surpass 174 books in 2022, but it will be fun to try 😊

2019 (110lbs) vs Now (I have no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️ lbs)

Be frank with me, do you care how much I weigh? If I know you guys at all, I’m sure the answer is no.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From 2013 to 2019, I weighed myself religiously and continued to do it throughout most of my All In journey. I wanted to make sure I was documenting as much as possible to share with you. I would write it at the top of my journal entry along with the date and my hunger levels - just so I could report it in a video. But I have to admit, it lowkey messed me up 🥴
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Occasionally it would cause a panic attack and I would wonder if I my whole journey was a huge mistake 😰 I would give myself a pep talk and resume. Over time, I learned to compartmentalize my weight as a “quantitative measurement” to separate it from my personal/emotional feelings. It wasn’t easy but I was able to do it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I continued to periodically weigh myself up until a few months ago and I just had to STOP. It was honestly still messing with me and I realized knowing my weight wasn’t helping anyone. I realized it was incrementally enabling old 2019 disordered thoughts/old habits to creep back and I had to literally slap myself out of it. I’ve made other corrections to my behavior these past weeks like journaling and seeking guidance from knowledgeable people, but ignoring the scale has been the most helpful.

It’s been a couple months since I stopped weighing myself and I genuinely have no clue how much I weigh. It’s unbelievably liberating. But the most important thing is…IT DOESN’T MATTER.

If you weigh yourself…kudos to you. It’s just not for me ♥️

Finally feeling like myself again ✨🖤

I think the best thing about sharing my life with you guys is that I feel like I have a bunch of supportive friends that see the good and the bad. I try my best not to selectively only show the good, and in one of my last posts I shared that I was in a bit of a rut the past few months. BUT! Over the past 4 weeks I’ve been feeling the best I’ve felt in a very long time and it feels good to share that with you 🙏 It just took a bit of mental recalibration and things like: lots of rest when I’m tired, lots of eating when I’m hungry, and lots of patience when I’m overwhelmed. Not exactly rocket science, but sometimes a reminder to be kinder to yourself (and your body) can go a long way ♥️

About 6 months back, I stopped journaling because

About 6 months back, I stopped journaling because I ignorantly thought all of my problems were magically better and I no longer needed a place to vent or confide my struggles.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And things were great for a little while, but some of my long ingrained issues started to creep back. So here we are…journaling. I frequently find myself going back to my initial journal entry, as well as my sister’s note taped inside my journal as a reminder that all I can do is do my best.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve come to realize that my journey is NOT linear and there are bound to be dips and valleys along the way. I felt this overwhelming pressure that I needed to be a textbook example of fixing my extreme hunger and my relationship with my body, but it’s just completely unrealistic. I felt so much shame that I wasn’t living up to your expectations and I was starting to crumble.

I’m working through some things right now but just know that if you’ve ever compared your own journey to mine and felt discouraged because your journey was different…please don’t feel that way. Mine was far from perfect and I still struggle with many of the issues I struggled with for years before my All In journey.

To alleviate some of the strain I’ve been feeling, I’ve taken a huge step back not only from posting on social media, but also from consuming it.

These days, I’m usually deeply engrossed in a novel, talking to my family, writing and spending time with Jeff. I’m working through my struggles and slowly making progress but I plan to completely open up about everything in a video. I have a lot to say, so we’ll talk soon. Love you ♥️
